Extension to the Golden Triangle
(3 days/2 nights trip from Heho)

In the middle of the Golden Triangle, a crossroads of migration from China, South Kengtung, one of the most beautiful towns in Shan state, is the gateway to a region populated by ethnic hill Wa, Akha, Lahu ... This extension including trekking or easy ballades far from the beaten tracks is approachable to every person who can
normally move.

Brief itinerary:    

Day 1: Heho – flight to Kentung
Day 2: Kentung
Day 3: Kentung – flight to Heho.

Detailled itinerary:

Day 1: Heho – flight to Kentung
From Heho, take a flight to Kengtung. Arrival in Kengtung, which was only opened to foreign visitors since 1993. There will be a local guide who pick you up. Discover the costumes and traditions of minorities Khun, Wa, Ann, Lahu, Lisu, Palaung, Akhe, Akha which populate the region since they migrated from  Laos and from Yunnan in different epochs. Surrounded by some rice crops, they settled near rivers and on steep slopes of hills covered by forests that surround Kengtung. They have only natural resources for live: picking, peach, hunt and some animals of low courtyard. They live in autarky to the rhythm of sometimes primitive traditions
Road departure your guide for the village Ann de Ho Lung who is stuck on a small hill and the "village of Wan Sai where the Akhe women carry colorful “longhis”. Lunch and dinner in a local restaurant. Night at the hotel.

Start visiting the buffalo market with your guide on a car. Then drive to the village called "Wanpauk" - village in eastern Shan State in the East of Myanmar where the women wear the red longhis surrounded by hoops in bamboo or in silver. Hiking in the hills covered with dense vegetation to reach the villages fixed on mountainside with the Ann teeth stained black and the beautiful Akha headdresses and embroidered clothes. Discovery of waterfalls from Pine Tauk surrounded by jungles and back to Kengtung. Walking by the Naugtaung lake and enjoy sunset over the city from Lone Tree Hill where the vestiges of the old fortifications of Kengtung remain. Lunch and dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Kentung – flight to Heho  
Visit the big market of Kengtung where you can see all the minorities who cross. The Akhas sell grubs of grilled insect that very appreciated by the local population. The barter is still accepted in this region. You have free time to visit Kentung, the ancient capital Shan founded in 1243.

Kengtung is home to an interesting collection of temples and monasteries quite different: at Zom Khan, Wat In and Wat Ho Khong, the Maha Myat Muni Pagoda and visit a craft plant of lacquer traditional Shan. Lunch and dinner in a local restaurant. Transfer to the airport of Kengtung, flight to Heho.
