    Arrival in Bangkok
    Arrival in Bangkok. Welcome at the airport and transfer to your hotel to have some rest.

  • Day 2
    Bangkok – Khorat – Burinam - Surin
    Visit of the Prasat Phimai as well as the archaeological museum of Phimai. Go on towards Nagrong’s district and visit of the majestic Prasat Khao Phanom Rung (also a Khmer temple built in the 12th century) located at the top of a volcano. Then you will go to Surin, high-place of the same name’s province, famous for its Khmer ruins.

    Surin – Ubon Rachathani – Khong Jiam
    Departure to Sikhoraphum and visit of the Khmer temple built in bricks and sandstone. Go on to Si Saket and visit of the Sra Kamphaeng Yai temple. Discovery of the majestic Preah Vihear located at the edge of a cliff on the Cambodian side (no visa required). Continue of the road towards Khong Jiam, a city situated at the Mekong edge.

  • Day 4
    Khong Jiam
    After breakfast, you will visit the historical park of Pha Taem having a view on the Mekong river. The ancient paintings located here have between 5 000 and 7 000 years old, and represent giant fishs, elephants and others. Then, you will go down to the tribal village of Bru, and make a cruise on the Mekong. Back to Khong Jiam to enjoy a delicious lunch. The Mekong is narrow here, which allows views on both banks. Relax and at around 3.00pm, you will visit the market of Chong Mek, at the boundary with Laos, selling everything, free of charge of alcohol, traditional roots and herbs medicine, textiles, and antiques. Back to Khong Jiam to relax and enjoy leisures.

    Khong Jiam – Mukdahan – Nakhon Phanom
    Road to Mukdahan. Free time at the Indochina’s market. Discovery of the Wat Phra That Phanom. Arrival at the end of the afternoon at Nakhon Phanom.

  • Day 6
    Nakhon Phanom
    In the morning, start your day with a stroll in the center of the city near the former clock’s tower. The local population says that it was a gift from Ho Chi Minh president back in the 1950s. Continue to visit the the old house of Ho Chi Minh. There is a large population of Vietnamese origin in Nakhon Phanom. You will be making a stroll by feet to the city center of Nakorn Phanom with your guide and visit the Wat Yai Pra before making a boat stroll on the Mekong to see beautiful landscapes of Laos and Thailand. Back to your hotel and take a time for your own leisure and relaxing.

  • Day 7
    Nakhon – Sakon Nakhorn – Udon Thani
    Road towards Sakon Nakhorn, located at the edge of the Nong Harn lake. Visit of the Wat Phra That Choeng Chum, followed by the Phra That Narai Cheng Weng, site of Khmer inspiration. Go on to Baan Chiang, archaeological site of an ancient civilization of more than 3000 years old (classified at the UNESCO). Arrival in Udon Thani in the end of the afternoon.

    Udon Thani – Loei - Phitsanulok
    Departure to Phu Phra Bat, a historic park which has been the site of settlement of former prehistoric civilizations. Small hiking in the park which is located in a forest. Continue to Loei. Arrival at the end of the afternoon in Phitsanulok.

    Phitsanulok – Sukhothai – Lampang
    Visit of the Wat Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat and the Chinaraj Buddha. Discovery of the manufacture center of the larges statues of Buddha according to the traditional way of the lost wax. Road towards the historic park of Sukhotai. Visit of the Wat Mahathat and the Wat Sri Chum. Departure to Lampang to visit the Wat Phra Lampang Luang.

  • Day 10
    Lampang – Phayao – Chiang Rai
    Visit of the Baan Saonak, old house in traditional wood built in 1895. Go on with breaks along the way to discover a pineapple field, then the Phayao lake which is the largest fishing center in northern Thailand. Arrival in Chiang Rai. Visit of a reconstitued village looking like different ethniticies of the north : Akkhas, Yao, Lahu. Go on with the road towards the famous Golden Triangle. Arrival in Chaing Saen. Discovery of the opium museum. Back to Chiang Ra.

    Chiang Rai – Chiang Mai
    Discovery of the Wat Phra Keo. Stroll on the market and then excursion in canoe on the Kok river in order to join tribe of Tibeto-Burman origin. Go on to Chiang Mai with a break along the way to discover a hot water source.

  • Day 12
    Chiang Mai / Mok Fah’s waterfall / Karen village
    Departure at 7.00am from your hotel to Chiang Mai for a first step at the local market of Mae Malai. Meeting with the flowers, fruits and vegetables mercants.. Go on to the Mok Fha waterfalls where you will be able to enjoy a moment of relaxation and bathing. Lunch at Baan Pang Lun. Road towards the Shan village of Baan Mae Sae. Then you will make a hiking for 2 hours and 30 minutes towards the Karen village of Baan Mae Jok. Meeting and exchanging with the inhabitants. Overnight at the homestay (summary comfort).

  • Day 13
    Karen village / Elephants camp
    After breakfast at the village, departure to a 3 hour hiking towards the elephant’s camp. Lunch served at the camp. Departure to a 1 hour and 30 minutes stroll on an elephant’s back through the paths and streams of the white Karen’s village. Arrival at the village of Baan Pang Khao Lam. Overnight at the village (summary comfort).

  • Day 14
    Karen village / Lahu Akha village
    In the morning, you will make a 3 hour bamboo rafting on the Mae Tang river. Go on with the trek (2 hours) to a village of the Akha tribe. Overnight at the village.

    Lahu Akha village / Shan village / Chiang Mai
    After breakfast, 1 hour hiking towards a Shan village. Then transfer in a local truck to Chiang Mai until your hotel. Overnight.

    Chiang Mai – Bangkok
    Discovery of an elephants camp to attend elephants’ work in the forest. Then visit of an orchids farm. Back to Chiang Mai to visit the old town with its temples. Visit of the Wat chiang Man, the Wat Phra Singh, and the Wat Chedi Luang. In the afternoon, transfer at the train station and departure in a night train, 1st class, to Bangkok

  • Day 17
    Bangkok – Korat – Poipet
    Breakfast early in the morning, then transfer to Korat then its border post of Poipet. At your arrival at this border, you take the Cambodian visa. You will be welcome in Poipet by the Cambodian guide and driver, and then transfered to Siem Riep. Overnight at the hotel.

    Visit of Siem Reap – Angkor’s secret
    In the morning, visit of the pre-Angkor temples (9th century) of the Roluos : the Bakong, the Bakong, the Prah Ko, and Lolei followed by the visit of the temples the most surprising in the whole Angkor site, the Ta Prohm, the Ta Keo, lost in a lush vegetation. In addition, you will also visit the small temples of Neak Pean, Preah Khan, Thommanon, and the large bassins (the Baray). Overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 19
    Banteay Srei – Kobal Spien
    Excursion at the Banteay Srei temple – « Women city-state », a jewel of pink sandstone entirely carved, dedicated to Shiva and built in the 10th century by King Jayavarman V, passing through the temple of Prasat Kravan built in 921. Go on with the visit to go (if the road allows it) to Kobal Spien, “the river with a thousand Lingas”. In the afternoon, visit of the Oriental baray sites built by Rajendravarman : Banteasy, Pre Rup, Preasat Khleang, Oriental Mebon. Overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 20
    Siem Reap - Battampang
    Departure to Battambang in a boat (from 6 to 7 hours of sailing), if the water level allows it, if not by the road. Along the Sangker river, discovery of the floating villages and ancestral fishing techniques. Picnic lunch at the Black Wood pagoda. Cross through the huge Tonle Sap lake : this true domestic sea, whose annual flood rules the lives of the Khmer people, has been classified as a biosphere reserve by UNESCO in 1997 because of the incredible diversity of its ecosystem. Arrival in Battampang at the end of the day, transfer at the hotel. Overnight at Battampang.

  • Day 21
    Battampang
    This charming town has preserved the characteristic architecture of the provincial capitals of the former Indochina, alternating colonial districts, Chinese compartments grouped around the market and Khmer houses in wood, perched on high piles and surrounded by orchards. Ascension of the hill of Phnom Banon, whose sanctuaries (12th and 13th centuries) are one of the high places of the Khmer identity. Road to the temple of Vat Ek Phnom (12th century), embedded in a luxuriant vegetation. On the way, stop at Vat Sla Ket pagoda, residency of the Venerable Buddhist clergy. A glance at the Battambang regional museum. Overnight at the hotel.

    Battampang – Phnom Penh
    Early departure to Phnombenh. Along the way, step to Krar Kor for a boat stroll in the floating village. Then, have a break in a village of potters in the Kompong Chhnang region, whose name means "Port of Pottery". Overnight at the hotel.

Un grand merci à Mandarin Road ! Très bonne organisation du voyage (liaison de transports, planning des activités). L’équipe (et surtout Tina) était à notre écoute et répondait de manière très réactive à nos besoins éventuels. La nourriture était de bonne qualité tout au long du voyage. Mention spéciale pour notre séjour à Siemp Reap : guide super, bel hôtel, planning bien actif.
Points d’amélioration éventuels :
         Le fait d’aller à Can Tho a représenté beaucoup de routes (4h-5h) pour quelques balades sur place. Pour nous ça ressemblait aux activités déjà faites dans le centre (cours de cuisine, balade sur des rivières/fleuves) .
         L’hôtel à Can tho n’était pas de bonne qualité.
         Super guide au sud qui connaissait vraiment beaucoup de choses.
         Siem Reap : le guide a changé un peu le programme pour nous permettre l’ensemble des monuments à voir. Apparemment tous les beaux monuments à voir n’était pas prévus dans le programme initial.

         Hanoi : visite de la ville  et des musées avec le guide
          Hué : ville impériale

Je prends finalement le temps de vous écrire un petit mot pour vous dire comment nous avons tellement aimé notre voyage.  C’était la première fois que nous faisions un voyage avec un guide et un chauffeur juste pour nous.  Nous avons vraiment aimé que la personne en charge de nous chez Mandarin Road nous contacte la première journée de notre voyage pour s’assurer que nous allions bien.
 
Nous avons aimé le fait qu’il y avait de la flexibilité tant lorsque c’était le choix de préparer notre itinéraire que lors du voyage. Siri nous demandait quand nous avions faim et si nous lui disions que nous voulions arrêter pour prendre un café ou aller aux toilettes, il n’y avait jamais de problème.  Nous avons beaucoup aimé arrêter dans des endroits non touristiques pour manger. Siri nous présentait le menu et les spécialités.  Nous n’avions pas peur d’essayer de nouvelles choses.
 
Siri était toujours de bonne humeur et nous comptait pleins d’anecdotes ou de l’histoire. Elle pouvait jaser à la fois avec nous ou avec nos garçons d’histoire, de culture ou même de sa vie de famille.  Pour nous il était très important de voir comment vivent les Thaïlandais et nous avons adoré toutes nos discussions. Elle nous faisait goûter des choses que nous n’aurions pas eu le courage de goûter par nous-même.
 
Il y a des journées où nous étions fatigués et nous ne voulions pas faire de shopping. Elle n’hésitait pas à modifier l’horaire pour nous permettre de nous reposer d’avantage. Nous avons eu un petit incident dans un salon de massage et elle a pris cela en mains et a contacté la propriétaire pour régler la situation. Nous avons vraiment apprécié.
 
Nous n’hésiterons pas à faire appel à vos services si jamais nous désirons faire un autre voyage où nous pouvons y aller avec un guide.
 
C’est vraiment une excellente façon de voyager.
