It is a long boat ride through water hyacinths and rice fields that will take you to the Swallow's Tail River at the Cave of the Perfume Pagoda. In Hoa Lu, it is in boat that you will discover the site, oh so romantic, of "Halong en terre" celebrated by the film Indochina. Ba Bé: Silence and beauty: Small lake, lost between wooded hills, which one travels in motor boat while following closely the banks covered with lianas and long roots in search of foods. There are other boats, fishermen at work, peasants crossing his buffalo, or bringing back for the hearth wood cut in the forest; a peaceful life that does not lack charm. And then Halong Bay; Cat Ba, one of the most amazing islands in the bay with its market and village on the water.

  • Day 1
    Arrival at Hanoi.
    Hanoi, or its historical name entitled "Thang Long" which means "dragon in flight", was the main feudal capital of the country for hundreds of years, from the Ly Dynasty (in the 11th century) to the Dynasty of Le posterior (at the end of the 17th century). That is why until now the city of Hanoi still keeps the historical monuments, traditional and typical of the Vietnamese culture and the immortal values of the Hanoi’s people mind.
    Arrival at Noi Bai / Hanoi airport. Transfer to the hotel. Visit of Hanoi "The city located on the Red River". Walk in the residential area where are the former Palace of the Governor General of Indochina, the house and the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh, the single pillar pagoda. Continuation of the visits of Hanoi: the temple of the literature (1st Vietnamese University of the 11th century), the museum of ethnography, the markets....Then the temple of Mount Jade, ride rickshaw in the old district guilds. The evening: spectacles of the puppets on the water. Night at the hotel.
    Option : If you do not want to visit the city right away because of the long flight, we will offer you a traditional massage of one hour with a supplement of 15 USD / person.

  • Day 2
    Hanoi – Perfume pagoda – Hoa Binh
    (130km/ 3h drive)
    Departure for the perfume pagoda, one of the most beautiful sites of Vietnam. On the side of a limestone mountain are perched pagodas and temples whose architecture blends perfectly with a very lush nature. Depending on the itinerary, from the pier, a paddling sampan takes you to the Yen River in 1 hour at the foot of the Perfume Mountain, but according to the rules of the pilgrimage, you have to make a stop at temple of the Presentations to ask the genius-guardian of the places permission to continue the journey. Then it will take you 3 hours to climb up the stairs and reach the pagoda of the Scented Footprint, a huge cave where stalactites and stalagmites form candelabra and altars. Back in sampan at the pier, then drive to Hoa Binh. Overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 3
    Hoa Binh – Mai Chau
    (90km/ 2h drive)
    Departure for Hoa Binh, a road that crosses beautiful landscapes of mountains planted with tea trees. Short stop at Muongs village in Cho Bo. Continue to Mai Chau. We leave definitely the flat country delta for the mountainous region. The first rice terraces appear, lined with banana groves. The habitat is also changing radically. The countryside is dotted with thatched cottages, among which the Muongs house, which is recognizable by its sloping roof and low stilts. Continuation of road and arrival to the valley of Mai Chau towards noon, serene and splendid, below the road: it is a beautiful puzzle that looms the rice fields cultivated by white Thais, whose hamlets are scattered around the borough. Visit of the two villages Van and Lac. The expert fingers of white Thai women perform all kinds of weavings. Those in their group are based on combinations of lozenges or variations on wild bristles. Overnight at the inhabitant (summary comfort). In the evening: show with dances to Khene sound, and plenty of rice alcohol.

  • Day 4
    Mai Chau – Hoa Lu – Tam Coc
    (130km / 3h drive)
    Departure for Hoa Lu, one of the ancient capitals of Vietnam in the 10th century. Visit of the commemorative temples dedicated to Kings Dinh and Le. Then climb the steps that climb to the top of Mount Ma Yen where we kiss the site. Up there rests King Dinh whose oldest royal burial preserved in Vietnam. Road to Tam Coc, the course is beautiful in an amazing setting of hills and karst peaks where appear and disappear a small river. Lunch at Tam Coc. After a 3-hour boat trip on the Ngo Dong River that winds between karst hills and rice fields in a wonderful landscape "Bay Ha Long on Land". Walk east to Bich Dong, the Jade cave which is a beautiful half-built temple, half-carved on the side of the hills (It was here the filming of the film Indochina). Overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 5
    Tam Coc – Hai Phong
    (130km / 2h30 road)
    Departure for Phat Diem, the most beautiful cathedral of the country built in 1891 of Sino-Vietnamese style, very remarkable for its materials (marble, granite and wood). Lunch along the way. Continue to Hai Phong via Nam Dinh, Thai Binh. A short stop at Keo Pagoda in the middle of the countryside. It is built in the 17th century. It is simple, ample and rustic; but it is remarkable with its bell tower, an impressive wooden structure. Arrival at Hai Phong, the French colonial style city well known for its flamboyant streets and avenues. Visit the Du Hang Pagoda. Overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 6
    Hai Phong – Cat Ba Island
    After breakfast, departure by ferry boat to Cat Ba Island. Cat Ba National Park encompasses evergreen tree forests on 331 m elevations, wet forests at the foot of hills and coastal mangroves, plus numerous small freshwater lakes, beaches and sand and coral reefs offshore. It is inhabited by 28 species of mammals, 37 species of birds, 20 species of reptiles and 200 species of fish. You will also find a tree of a rare species "trees with chopsticks". It is so named because its wood, responsive to food poisons, was used to make baguettes used in court, eternal field of intrigues. Arrival and visit of this natural park Cat Ba. Take motorbike/car to go to Cat Ba National Park, the Worlds Biosphere Reserve with spectacular scenery and a high diversity of landscapes (about 40 mins driving each way). Do trekking through jungle & forest and go up to the view point (it is about 2.5 hours trekking but can be more or less depending on your speed). Night at the hotel.

  • Day 7
    Cat Ba Island – Ha Long
     
    The highlight of the trip is taking people to less touristy areas and cruise more to see the best parts of Ha Long. The place where we anchor is also very peaceful; far away from the place where hundreds of boats anchor at the same place.
    In the morning visit the fishing port and Cat Ba fish market. Boarding on boat at 12h00 at Ben Beo harbor, transfer to our Junk with a welcome drink. The junk travel through a floating fishing village. One-hour cruise in Lan Ha Bay to discover the stunning beaches of Ba Trai Dao. You have the first stop for kayaking and swimming on the beach.  Delicious seafood lunch and free time to rest while the crew will stop the engine to travel full sails in Ong Cam Bay.  Finally, the Junk will drop the anchor in a remote area free of tourists. The crew prepair the fishing gear. Diner and night aboard.

  • Day 8
    Ha Long – Hanoi
    (180km / 4h drive)
    From the island of Cat ba, you have the opportunity to make unforgettable cruises (especially on Halong Bay) that will enhance your trip to Vietnam. The island of Cat ba is the largest of all the islands that make up the archipelago of the same name. It has superb sandy beaches and beautiful coral reefs. This is one of the most popular tourist destinations
    Breakfast aboard. Kayaking to CA tunnel and discover a hidden lake. Cruising in the magnificent Halong Bay, admiring the fascinating rock formations in the bay. 
    Check-out before 11am. Lunch aboard.
    Then disembark and drive to Ha Noi crossing Hung Yen province, considered a big rice granary of the North. Then stop at the artisan village of ceramics and porcelain Dong Trieu. Overnight at the hotel.

    Hanoi – Cho Ra – Ba Be
    (250km / 6h drive)
    Departure for Ba Be passing through the mountainous regions of Tonkin. Stunning wild mountain scenery with terraced rice paddies, bamboo paddlewheels on both river banks. Lunch en route, then arrive at Cho Ra. Continuation of the road to the village Pac Ngoi des Tay located not far from the lake on the hillside. The Tay who settled there live from fishing, rice growing and maize. Their houses on stilts, with thatched roof, pleasantly decorate the austere surrounding landscapes. Overnight at the inhabitant (summary comfort).

  • Day 10
    Ba Be
    Boat trip on the Nang River, which winds its way into a cultivated countryside before entering a landscape of Ba Be limestone cliffs, on the flanks of which hang small wild gardens from which lianas and long roots in search of earth hang. Sometimes earthy mounds are swallowed by the jungle, stained with blood-red cannas, marbled with silvery trunks, and old trees twist to lean over the river. The other attraction of navigation is the spectacle of fishing. Nasses line the course of the river, men throw the sparrow hawk, and others hit the rocky banks to dislodge tiny shrimps. We enter the Puong cave-tunnel bank. The river runs only on one side, leaving a bank to admire on foot the stalactites of this avenue. Visit Dau Dang waterfalls. Continuation of the cruise to Ba Be Lake; the lake "of the three seas" which stretches for 9 km long and a width of 100 to 1800 m, is at 145 m above sea level. It is at the end of 3 valleys that meet in an arc. Ba Be is not only a site for the imaginative, but also for nature lovers. Nearly forty species of mammals live there, as well as over a hundred species of birds and many butterflies. Lunch in a restaurant near the pier. Back to the village of PacNgoi. Overnight at the inhabitant.

    Ba Be - Hanoi

    Road to Hanoi, we will have the opportunity to discover typical markets on these mountains, where come the women Tay and Nung wearing conical hats, dressed in black pants and a short tunic blue or purple, the black Hmong in indigo pleated skirt. Arrival in Hanoi. Overnight at the hotel.

    Tay Phuong pagoda – Thay pagoda – Return flight
    (120km/ 2h30 drive)
    Departure to the west of Ha Noi, crossing a beautiful countryside of Tonkin. Visit the Tay Phuong Pagoda, which means "The West Looking Pagoda", famous for 76 statues carved in jackfruit wood, of great artistic value dating back to the 17th century. Continue to Thay Pagoda, also known as the Heavenly Blessing Pagoda, one of the most revered pagodas in the region. Then you are free until transfer to Noi Bai airport and return flight. End of the trip

Je suis né à Hanoï d’un père militaire français qui a « fait l’Indo ».
J’ai voulu faire découvrir le Vietnam à mes 2 filles étudiantes sous l’angle « nature et culture » mais surtout leur faire rencontrer des gens authentiques et découvrir leur vie de tous les jours.
 
Plus que les traditions, l’histoire et les paysages, ce sont les Vietnamiens eux-mêmes qui sont la vraie richesse de ce pays, que j’avais déjà visité il y a une dizaine d’années.
J’ai donc choisi un opérateur local et Mandarin Road et leur programme a totalement répondu à mes demandes, parfois très personnalisées, notamment avec les séjours et les repas chez l’habitant.
On a ri, on a chanté, on a connu de grands moments de joie.

  Nous tenions à vous féliciter pour l’organisation de notre séjour en Thaïlande « Charmes de la Thaïlande »
 
Des vacances au cours desquelles vous avez su faire preuve de maitrise et de professionnalisme, autant l’accueil a l’arrivée a l’aéroport de Bangkok, le choix de l’hôtel, la qualité et l’exactitude horaire des différents transferts.
Tout cela nous a permis d’apprécier pleinement la découverte de la Thaïlande en toute sérénité. C’était notre premier voyage en Asie et nous redoutions car de plus nous ne parlons pas l’anglais et évidemment pas le thaï. 
Nous remercions particulièrement Mme Tina Vu et Mme Anna Nguyen pour leur efficacité a bien comprendre nos désirs en matière de découverte et a les satisfaire. Nous ne manquerons pas d’utiliser a nouveau vos services pour un futur voyage mais cette fois ci au Vietnam.

Un grand merci à Mandarin Road ! Très bonne organisation du voyage (liaison de transports, planning des activités). L’équipe (et surtout Tina) était à notre écoute et répondait de manière très réactive à nos besoins éventuels. La nourriture était de bonne qualité tout au long du voyage. Mention spéciale pour notre séjour à Siemp Reap : guide super, bel hôtel, planning bien actif.
Points d’amélioration éventuels :
         Le fait d’aller à Can Tho a représenté beaucoup de routes (4h-5h) pour quelques balades sur place. Pour nous ça ressemblait aux activités déjà faites dans le centre (cours de cuisine, balade sur des rivières/fleuves) .
         L’hôtel à Can tho n’était pas de bonne qualité.
         Super guide au sud qui connaissait vraiment beaucoup de choses.
         Siem Reap : le guide a changé un peu le programme pour nous permettre l’ensemble des monuments à voir. Apparemment tous les beaux monuments à voir n’était pas prévus dans le programme initial.

         Hanoi : visite de la ville  et des musées avec le guide

Bonjour,
 
Je prends finalement le temps de vous écrire un petit mot pour vous dire comment nous avons tellement aimé notre voyage.  C’était la première fois que nous faisions un voyage avec un guide et un chauffeur juste pour nous.  Nous avons vraiment aimé que la personne en charge de nous chez Mandarin Road nous contacte la première journée de notre voyage pour s’assurer que nous allions bien.
 
Nous avons aimé le fait qu’il y avait de la flexibilité tant lorsque c’était le choix de préparer notre itinéraire que lors du voyage. Siri nous demandait quand nous avions faim et si nous lui disions que nous voulions arrêter pour prendre un café ou aller aux toilettes, il n’y avait jamais de problème.  Nous avons beaucoup aimé arrêter dans des endroits non touristiques pour manger. Siri nous présentait le menu et les spécialités.  Nous n’avions pas peur d’essayer de nouvelles choses.
 
Siri était toujours de bonne humeur et nous comptait pleins d’anecdotes ou de l’histoire. Elle pouvait jaser à la fois avec nous ou avec nos garçons d’histoire, de culture ou même de sa vie de famille.  Pour nous il était très important de voir comment vivent les Thaïlandais et nous avons adoré toutes nos discussions. Elle nous faisait goûter des choses que nous n’aurions pas eu le courage de goûter par nous-même.
 
Il y a des journées où nous étions fatigués et nous ne voulions pas faire de shopping. Elle n’hésitait pas à modifier l’horaire pour nous permettre de nous reposer d’avantage. Nous avons eu un petit incident dans un salon de massage et elle a pris cela en mains et a contacté la propriétaire pour régler la situation. Nous avons vraiment apprécié.
 
Nous n’hésiterons pas à faire appel à vos services si jamais nous désirons faire un autre voyage où nous pouvons y aller avec un guide.
 
C’est vraiment une excellente façon de voyager.
