  • Day 1
    Arrival in Hanoï


    Hanoi, or its historical name entitled "Thang Long" which means "dragon in flight", was the main feudal capital of the country for hundreds of years, from the Ly Dynasty (in the 11th century) to the Dynasty of Le posterior (at the end of the 17th century). That is why until now the city of Hanoi still keeps the historical monuments, traditional and typical of the Vietnamese culture and the immortal values of the Hanoi’s people mind.
    Arrival at Noi Bai / Hanoi airport. Transfer to the hotel. Visit of Hanoi "The city located on the Red River". Walk in the residential area where are the former Palace of the Governor General of Indochina, the house and the mausoleum of Ho Chi Minh, the single pillar pagoda. Continuation of the visits of Hanoi: the temple of the literature (1st Vietnamese University of the 11th century), the museum of ethnography, the markets....Then the temple of Mount Jade, ride rickshaw in the old district guilds. The evening: spectacles of the puppets on the water. Night at the hotel.
    Option : If you do not want to visit the city right away because of the long flight, we will offer you a traditional massage of one hour with a supplement of 15 USD / person.

  • Day 2
    Hanoi – Perfume Pagoda – Hoa Binh
    (70km / 1h30 of road)
    Departure for the perfume pagoda, one of the most beautiful sites of Vietnam. On the side of a limestone mountain are perched pagodas and temples whose architecture blends perfectly with a very lush nature. Depending on the itinerary, from the pier, a paddling sampan takes you to the Yen River in 1 hour at the foot of the Perfume Mountain, but according to the rules of the pilgrimage, you have to make a stop at temple of the Presentations to ask the genius-guardian of the places permission to continue the journey. Then it will take you 3 hours to climb up the stairs and reach the pagoda of the Scented Footprint, a huge cave where stalactites and stalagmites form candelabra and altars. Back in sampan at the pier, then drive to Hoa Binh. Night at the hotel.

  • Day 3
    Hoa Binh – Mai Chau
    (80km / 2h of road)
    Departure for Hoa Binh, a road that crosses beautiful landscapes of mountains planted with tea trees. Continue to Mai Chau. We leave definitely the flat country delta for the mountainous region. The first rice terraces appear, lined with banana groves. The habitat is also changing radically. The countryside is dotted with thatched cottages, among which the Muongs house, which is recognizable by its sloping roof and low stilts. Continuation of road and arrival to the valley of Mai Chau towards noon, serene and splendid, below the road: it is a beautiful puzzle that looms the rice fields cultivated by white Thais, whose hamlets are scattered around the borough. Visit of the two villages Van and Lake. The expert fingers of white Thai women perform all kinds of weavings. Those in their group are based on combinations of lozenges or variations on wild bristles. Overnight at the inhabitant (summary comfort). In the evening: show with dances to Khene sound, and plenty of rice alcohol.

    Mai Chau – Son La – Dien Bien

    (360km / 7h30 of road)
    Departure for Dien Bien through the small town of Son La. After, continue the road towards the west. Discovery of beautiful mountain scenery, verdant valleys of rice fields and villages of black Thai minorities. Overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 5
    Dien Bien – Tam Duong
    (260km / 5h30 of road)
    Dien Bien Phu, symbol of the French defeat in Indochina, is also a very beautiful valley. Visit the remains of the old battlefield, hills, museum and General De Castrie's PC. Lunch, then drive to Tam Duong, a small town located 70 km from Lai Chau, former prefecture of Thai white. Installation, overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 6
    Tam Duong – Sa Pa
    (110km / 2h30 of road)
    Drive to Sapa through a region where alternate virgin forests, waterfalls and rice terraces. Lunch on the way, then, stop at Binh Lu Market. Take a look at Thac Bac Falls before arriving in Sapa. Arriving at Sapa, the French settlers, attracted by the climate and the beauty of the landscape, had made Sapa a mountain resort. The city is located at 1650m, at the foot of Mount Fanxipan highest point of Vietnam at 3142m. Overnight at the hotel.

    Sa Pa – Bac Ha – Sa Pa
    (110 km/ 3h of road)
    Quaint, authentic and colorful: the weekly Bac Ha fair held on Sunday morning. Between 7 am and 9 am, roads and mountain tracks are very lively. There, a peasant pulls his donkey who does not want to move forward. Here, another holds a piglet at the end of a leash by pushing it with a bamboo whip. Others, wiser, prefer to carry the little pigs on the platform to avoid losing weight on the way to the fair. Some go by couple, the woman carrying on the back the stack of hoods that she braided, the man the jerry can of alcohol that he distilled. They put on their best clothes. Turbans of all shapes, red, blue or black, cross simpler chests planted with fresh tea leaves or embellished with silver coins. The colorful H'mong women and girls have donned their most beautiful skirts, all folded, that oscillate right and left with each step, making the grandmothers look like children. The tunics are finely embroidered and the aprons shimmering. The sellers offer basic necessities (groceries, books and school supplies, toiletries, haberdashery), relayed, according to rotations which differ, by the peasants who came to sell their production (vegetables, breeding, handicrafts). Finally women calculate the benefit of the day or compare the products, the girls are beautiful, the men clink at the rice alcohol while discussing horses and land. Walk to visit hamlets around Bac Ha: Ban Pho 1 and Ban Pho 2, inhabited by ethnic H'mong variegated. Visit the abandoned house of Huang A Tuong, a former H'mong chief. Back to Sapa. Overnight at the hotel.

    Note : Bac Ha market opens every Sunday, so if your stay does not fall on a Sunday, we suggest you either change the route a bit, or we'll take you to other authentic ethnic markets as, the market Coc Ly on Tuesday morning, the market Lung Khau Nhin Thursday morning or Can Cau market on Saturday morning.

  • Day 8
    Sa Pa- Y Linh Ho- Lao Chai- Ta Van- Sapa
    After breakfast, you will go to the village of Y Linh Ho where you will start your day hiking towards Red Dao, Hmong flower and Tay ethnic villages through the magnificent rice terraces. From above, you will have breathtaking views of the valleys : sources derived nearby hills, roofs balms are hiding in the shade and children laughing in the playgrounds. In the afternoon, you will continue the road to the village of Ta Van. Ta Van, which means "the great arc", is perched on the side of the Hoang Lien mountain. The village is located on the banks of Muong Hoa stream and surrounded by rice fields stepped forming arcs matching the mountain. Beyond the stream, we find the remains of votive steles, place of worship practices in Vietnam in the past. This area of ​​ancient steles has been recognized in 1994 as a historical and cultural relic of the country. It includes nearly 200 stone blocks of different sizes, carved images and ornaments inspired by the ancient mysteries of the culture of Lac Viet. At the end of the day you will have free time to meet the villagers, to ask them questions about their lives. Then transfer to Laocai station for the night train to Hanoi / train KING EXPRESS (or LIVITRANS EXPRESS or CHAPA EXPRESS) - Cabin with 4 berths for STANDARD & SUPERIOR categories; Cabin with 2 berths for DELUXE category / Departure 19h30.   • Day 9
    Arrival in Hanoi – Cho Ra – Ba Be

    (250km / 6h of road)
     
    Arrival at Hanoi station around 5:00 am Reception and transfer to the hotel. After breakfast, departure for Ba Be passing through the mountainous regions of Tonkin. Stunning wild mountain scenery with terraced rice paddies, bamboo paddlewheels on both river banks. Lunch en route, then arrive at Cho Ra. Boat trip on the Nang River, which winds its way into a cultivated countryside before entering a landscape of Ba Be limestone cliffs, on the flanks of which hang small wild gardens from which lianas and long roots in search of earth hang. . Sometimes earthy mounds are swallowed by the jungle, stained with blood-red cannas, marbled with silvery trunks, and old trees twist to lean over the river. The other attraction of navigation is the spectacle of fishing. Nasses line the course of the river, men throw the sparrowhawk, others hit the rocky banks to dislodge tiny shrimps. We enter the Puong cave-tunnel bank. The river runs only on one side, leaving a bank to admire on foot the stalactites of this avenue. Boat trip in the enchanting scenery of Ba Be Lake; the lake "of the three seas" which stretches for 9 km long and a width of 100 to 1800 m, is at 145 m above sea level. It is at the end of 3 valleys that meet in an arc. Ba Be is not only a site for the  imaginative, but also for nature lovers. Nearly forty species of mammals live there, as well as over a hundred species of birds and many butterflies. Visit Dau Dang waterfalls. Continuation of boat to the village Pac Ngoi des Tay located not far from the lake on the hillside. The Tay who settled there live from fishing, rice growing and corn. Their houses on stilts, with thatched roof, pleasantly decorate the austere surrounding landscapes. Dinner and overnight at the inhabitant (summary comfort).

    Ba Be – Hanoi

    After breakfast at home, walk to the village of Pac Ngoi des Tay. Then departure by road to visit a beautiful cave of Hua Ma located 7 km from the lake. Continuation of road to Hanoi. We will have the opportunity to discover typical markets on these mountains, where come Tay and Nung women wearing caps conical, dressed in black pants and a short tunic blue or purple, the black Hmong indigo pleated skirt. Arrival in Hanoi. Overnight at the hotel

    Hanoi – Ha Long
    (170km / 3h30 of road)
    The highlight of the trip is taking people to less touristy areas and cruise more to see the best parts of Ha Long. The place where we anchor is also very peaceful; far away from the place where hundreds of boats anchor at the same place.
     
    08:00 - 08:30 Departure in 3 ½ hours at the Hon Gai International Port. At Hon Gai harbor, transfer to our Junk with a welcome cocktail at 12h15. Welcome drink. Cruise through Halong Bay to Lan Ha bay while you are enjoying a seafood lunch. Boat-ride to CA tunnel and discover a hidden lake surrounded by cliffs full of monkeys (endangered species). Finally, the Junk will drop the anchor in a remote area free of tourists, in Ong Cam. Dinner and night aboard.

  • Day 12
    Ha Long – Cat Ba

    From the island of Cat ba, you have the opportunity to make unforgettable cruises (especially on Halong Bay) that will enhance your trip to Vietnam. The island of Cat ba is the largest of all the islands that make up the archipelago of the same name. It has superb sandy beaches and beautiful coral reefs. This is one of the most popular tourist destinations

    After breakfast, you will discover the beauty and charm of Lan Ha Bay with its small wild beaches, tunnels and floating fishing villages. Visit a fish pond at Lan Ha Bay. Stop at Ba Trai Dao beach, very beautiful and wild for swimming. Return of cabins around 10:00. Lunch on board around 11am. We land on Cat Ba Island at 12:00.


    In the afternoon, you will visit Cat Ba National Park, which includes evergreen tree forests on the heights at 331 m altitude, wet forests at the foot of hills and coastal mangroves, not to mention many small freshwater lakes, sandy beaches and coral reefs offshore. It is inhabited by 28 species of mammals, 37 species of birds, 20 species of reptiles and 200 species of fish. 2-hour hike to the top of the park, from where the look embraces the island. You will find a tree of a rare species "trees with chopsticks". It is so named because its wood, responsive to food poisons, was used to make baguettes used in court, eternal field of intrigues. Take motorbike/car to go to Cat Ba National Park, the Worlds Biosphere Reserve with spectacular scenery and a high diversity of landscapes (about 40 mins driving each way). Do trekking through jungle & forest and go up to the view point (it is about 2.5 hours trekking but can be more or less depending on your speed). Installation at the hotel. Overnight at Cat Ba.

    Cat Ba – Hai Phong – Hanoi

    In the morning, visit the Cat Ba Fish Market, then board a ferry boat to Hai Phong. Arrive at Hai Phong and drive into the French colonial style city, famous for its flamboyant streets and avenues. Visit Hang Du Pagoda, Hang Kenh Communal House, then continue to Ha Noi. Installation at the hotel.

Un grand merci à Mandarin Road ! Très bonne organisation du voyage (liaison de transports, planning des activités). L’équipe (et surtout Tina) était à notre écoute et répondait de manière très réactive à nos besoins éventuels. La nourriture était de bonne qualité tout au long du voyage. Mention spéciale pour notre séjour à Siemp Reap : guide super, bel hôtel, planning bien actif.
Points d’amélioration éventuels :
         Le fait d’aller à Can Tho a représenté beaucoup de routes (4h-5h) pour quelques balades sur place. Pour nous ça ressemblait aux activités déjà faites dans le centre (cours de cuisine, balade sur des rivières/fleuves) .
         L’hôtel à Can tho n’était pas de bonne qualité.
         Super guide au sud qui connaissait vraiment beaucoup de choses.
         Siem Reap : le guide a changé un peu le programme pour nous permettre l’ensemble des monuments à voir. Apparemment tous les beaux monuments à voir n’était pas prévus dans le programme initial.

Je prends finalement le temps de vous écrire un petit mot pour vous dire comment nous avons tellement aimé notre voyage.  C’était la première fois que nous faisions un voyage avec un guide et un chauffeur juste pour nous.  Nous avons vraiment aimé que la personne en charge de nous chez Mandarin Road nous contacte la première journée de notre voyage pour s’assurer que nous allions bien.
 
Nous avons aimé le fait qu’il y avait de la flexibilité tant lorsque c’était le choix de préparer notre itinéraire que lors du voyage. Siri nous demandait quand nous avions faim et si nous lui disions que nous voulions arrêter pour prendre un café ou aller aux toilettes, il n’y avait jamais de problème.  Nous avons beaucoup aimé arrêter dans des endroits non touristiques pour manger. Siri nous présentait le menu et les spécialités.  Nous n’avions pas peur d’essayer de nouvelles choses.
 
Siri était toujours de bonne humeur et nous comptait pleins d’anecdotes ou de l’histoire. Elle pouvait jaser à la fois avec nous ou avec nos garçons d’histoire, de culture ou même de sa vie de famille.  Pour nous il était très important de voir comment vivent les Thaïlandais et nous avons adoré toutes nos discussions. Elle nous faisait goûter des choses que nous n’aurions pas eu le courage de goûter par nous-même.
 
Il y a des journées où nous étions fatigués et nous ne voulions pas faire de shopping. Elle n’hésitait pas à modifier l’horaire pour nous permettre de nous reposer d’avantage. Nous avons eu un petit incident dans un salon de massage et elle a pris cela en mains et a contacté la propriétaire pour régler la situation. Nous avons vraiment apprécié.

Bonjour Monsieur Tony DUONG,

Nous venions vous remercier pour ce beau voyage au Vietnam qui s'est bien passé grâce à vous pour l'élaboration du circuit, et grâce à vos guides à nos côtés pour les visites.
Notre guide à Hanoï était trés compétente et trés professionnelle, et nous a accompagné jusqu'à l'aéroport pour Hué.

 

Puis nous avons rencontré notre Guide HUE à Hue qui nous a agréablement surpris par sa maitrise de la langue française, sa compétence professionnelle, son humour, nous l'avons beaucoup appréciée, elle a toujours été à l'écoute de ce que nous souhaitions.

Les chauffeurs aussi ont été parfaits et les véhicules confortables et en bon état.

Nous avons particulièrement aimé les derniers jours à Hoi-An où nous avons découvert des petits villages, fait du vélo ... avec notre guide.

La seule chose que nous regrettons un peu est le côté trop touristique de la baie d'Along, il y avait beaucoup de monde et deux personnes de notre famille ont été malades aprés le premier repas pris sur le bateau (problème alimentaire ???).

Cela a un peu gâché les deux jours. Nous pensons qu'il vaudrait peut-être mieux proposer un circuit sur une partie de la baie moins touristique.

En conclusion, nous avons pu voir beaucoup de choses en peu de temps et cela grâce à votre organisation sans faille, et aux bons guides et chauffeurs.

Merci pour tout. À noter, les hôtels de qualité, toujours bien placés. Les repas étaient toujours dans des endroits superbes, surtout le repas d'accueil le premier soir à Hanoï ...Nous avons bien apprécié la formule demi-pension nous laissant libres le soir. Nous ne manquerons pas de recommander votre agence à des amis ou des proches.
